Metropolitan Klezmer re-invents tradition with both irreverence and respect, performing vibrant versions of soundtrack material from vintage Yiddish films along with lesser-known gems from wedding dance, trance, folk, swing and tango styles.
From the young to grandma and grandpa, everyone will enjoy the exhilarating journey of the Metropolitan Klezmer. As a special treat, the afternoon begins with Temple Beth Torah’s Junior Choir.

The Historical Society of Rockland County is pleased to welcome back their annual
St. Nicholas Day Festival on Saturday, December 6 with shows at 11:00 am & 1:00 pm on the grounds of the Historical Society at 20 Zukor Road in New City.
The traditional Dutch celebration, held at the 1832 Jacob Blauvelt House, is a fun chance for children, ages three to ten, to hear Dutch stories about the legend of St. Nicholas. Shoes are left on the doorstep for St. Nick\’s helpers to fill with goodies, hot apple cider and ginger cream cookies are served.
Don’t miss the chance to see St. Nicholas makes a special visit with his horse.
Price: $5 adults and children, $4 HSRC members. Includes admission to the 32nd Annual Miniature and Dollhouse Show and refreshments.

New City, N.Y.––The Historical Society of Rockland County, located at
20 Zukor Road in New City, is pleased to announce the return of the
ever-popular Annual Miniature and Dollhouse Show, with this year’s show The Child in All of Us running through March 1, 2009.
This popular show features two galleries of antique pedal cars, dollhouses, dolls, miniatures and other treats for the child in all of us — showcasing fabulous pedal cars by James Hopper, fantastic and surreal collage works of miniatures and children’s toys by Rockland photographer Ned Harris, maquetts of giant puppets from a production of Cinderella and The Prince Who Slays the Magic Dragon at Lincoln Center, quilts by Mary Jane Sexton, handmade dolls by Pat Mott, original “Betty Bonnet” paper dolls from before WWI and the work of many other talented regional contributors.
Under the watchful gaze of Betty Bonnet & her family, children of all ages will be able to create their own paper doll and clothes using supplied templates, crayons and colored pencils.

Special holiday admission: $7 adults and HSRC members; $3 children under 12. Price includes free admission to the 1832 Jacob Blauvelt House on Sundays from 12:00-4:00 p.m. Half-price for groups of ten or more by reservation only.
