MusicClasses4Kids Holiday Music Program

Bring your newborn through preschool aged child to celebrate the winter holidays with music from around the world. Kids can learn the traditions and songs of Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa plus make a musical instrument to use in class and take home with them. Cost is $30.00 for the two week session and advance registration is required.

You love Music for Aardvarks so get ready to jump, dance and get sweaty! This class focuses on “big movers” who want to stretch, jump, and move their feet. Playing his guitar to lively, interactive movement songs, Luke will introduce tunes that lend themselves to guided movements. Children enjoy taking turns being the conductor and leading us in the circle! Luke will serenade the parents to classic rock during the Dance Party segment of the class.

Learn how to aid your baby in their physical development: head control, rolling, rising to sitting, transitional positions, and eye/hand coordination. Stephanie will base the physical part of this program upon age and developmental level. Watch your child explore their body in our indoor playground. Does your child want to be a Little Princess Ballerina? Join this beginner course to learn basic ballet techniques while engaging in various activities and utilizing dance props. The class ends with a mini tea-party for all of the children. Tu-tus are provided but are not required for class. Children should wear comfortable clothing for moving around.

2011-2012 Ramapo Community Program Guide is Out!

The Town of Ramapo Community Program Guide came in the mail yesterday. This is the guide to all the indoor classes for kids (and adults and seniors) at the St Lawrence Center and Challenger Center.

They have classes for children from age 2-12 including Pee-Wee playtime, Soccer, Multi-Sports, Tennis, Basketball and Arts and Crafts.

Pee Wee Playtime
I’m glad to see the are continuing Pee Wee Playtime  where they set up development activities such as bounce houses, balance beams, obstacle courses and more for a free gym, for 2-4 year olds. It’s a great way for kids to get out of the house and play with no pressure!

Monday-Thursdays 10am-1pm.

The class is inspired by the philosophy of Isadora Duncan, the mother of modern dance. Her technique is known for its natural movements, musicality, and personal expression. With organic movements, developmentally appropriate for both boys and girls, children will learn basic dance skills, rhythm and musicality. Utilizing skips, runs, leaps, tosses, improvisational themes, and silk scarves the artful play of dance is explored. Seasonal storytelling and exploring themes from the natural world enhance the whole child experience of the class. Children wear silk tunics while dancing barefoot.
